Who
we are

The award-winning social enterprise where people come before profit

The Qualia Law team together in the office

As a Community Interest Company, we are purpose-driven rather than profit-driven, allowing us to focus entirely on the best interests of the individual.

Acting as a Deputy for a vulnerable person comes with a range of responsibilities, often to safeguard finances. For professionals managing these cases, this can create a dual responsibility: to the person’s best interest, and to the organisation they work in.

So, we decided to do things differently. With the initial support of great investors, National Lottery funding and Social Business Wales, we started Qualia Law as a Community Interest Company.

The focus is solely on impact and people. As we don’t operate for profit, any surplus we generate is reinvested into our services, such as pro bono work and free advice and training services.

Fast forward

Today, we are an award-winning social enterprise led by an Office of the Public Guardian Panel Deputy and proudly remain the UK’s only non-profit provider of Deputyship services delivered by qualified Solicitors. Our experienced team specialises in managing complex Deputyship and Professional Attorney cases, combining legal expertise with a commitment to putting people first.

How we work

Direct referrals and partnerships

  1. Initial contact

An individual or social worker contacts us to discuss a potential vulnerable person and provide an overview of their circumstances and support needs.

  2. Referral form

We provide a referral form to capture the key information required for an application.

  3. Confirming details

Once reviewed, we will contact you if any information is missing or if additional details are needed to progress the application.

Advice and training

  1. Free helpline

We offer a free support helpline where individuals, local authorities and charities can speak directly with an experienced Court of Protection Solicitor for advice.

  2. Free training

We provide specialist training for public and third-sector professionals. Focusing on topics such as mental capacity, financial safeguarding, Deputyship and Powers of Attorney.
